Record 2 million euros available in the 2027 grant round
The 2027 grant call of the Instrumentarium Science Foundation will open on 1 August 2026. In the upcoming funding round, a total of €2 million will be available to researchers and science entrepreneurs. This amount has been allocated only once before, in 2020, to mark the Foundation's 50th anniversary.
The application period for the 2027 grant call runs from 1 August to 15 September 2026. While the grant schemes will remain largely unchanged, the funding levels of major grants will be increased.
For example, the maximum amount of the Silmu Grant, intended for science entrepreneurs, will increase from €50,000 to €60,000. In addition, the Fellow Grant, aimed at independent researchers returning to Finland or who have recently returned to establish their research careers, will henceforth include a 15% overhead allocation for the host institution.
